Mohan Charan Majhi To take Oath as 1st BJP CM of Odisha Today Afternoon

Bhubaneswar: Senior leader of the BJP and four time MLA from Keonjhar Assembly constituency, Mohan Charan Majhi will be sworn in as the Chief Minister of Odisha at Janata Maidan, Bhubaneswar, in a grand ceremony to be held on Tuesday at 4:45 pm.

The oath-taking ceremony will be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.

Mohan Majhi’s name was proposed for the CM’s post at a meeting of elected BJP MLAs held on Tuesday in the presence of central observers of the party, Rajnath Singh and Bhupendra Yadav. The saffrom party also selected two deputy CMs Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo and Pravati Parida for Odisha. The meeting was also attended by three union ministers from Odisha, Dharmendra Pradhan, Ashwini Vaishnaw and Jual Oram, along with Members of Parliament.

Following the selection of these names, BJP leaders led by Mohan Majhi met Governor Raghubar Das at Raj Bhawan and staked claim to form the government in Odisha.

Majhi also gave the list of 78 BJP MLAs to the Governor and the letters of support from three other independent MLAs.
