Crackdown on Terror Groups Intensifies Ahead of PM Modi’s Srinagar Visit

Baramulla (J&K): Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit to Srinagar on June 20, security forces in Jammu and Kashmir intensified their efforts against terrorism.

A joint operation by the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police resulted in the elimination of two terrorists in Baramulla’s Hadipora area following a gunfight initiated by the terrorists’ firing during a cordon and search operation.

During his visit, Prime Minister Modi will attend the ‘Empowering Youth, Transforming J&K’ event at SKICC in Srinagar and inaugurate several developmental projects. On June 21, he will also participate in the 10th International Day of Yoga at SKICC, with an expected attendance of around 4,000 people along the banks of Dal Lake.

In a significant breakthrough, the J&K Police have made the first arrest in connection with the Reasi terror attack that occurred on June 9. The attack, which targeted a bus carrying pilgrims from the Shiv Khori cave shrine to Katra, claimed the lives of nine individuals and left 33 others injured. The police have apprehended Hakim Din, a resident of Rajouri, suspected of providing logistical support to the terrorists involved in the attack.

In a separate incident, police in the Doda district arrested Mohammad Rafi, who had fled on Tuesday with an AK-47 rifle belonging to a special police officer (SPO). The incident occurred when SPO Safdar Hussain had taken a lift from Rafi’s vehicle, inadvertently leaving his AK-47 behind. Rafi subsequently fled with the weapon, but the vehicle was later recovered abandoned near the Jagota area of Bhalla.
