Raja Festivities Kick Off in Odisha: A Celebration of Women, Mother Earth and Delicious Pithas

Bhubaneswar: The festival of Raja Parba has begun in Odisha, heralding three days of festivities that honour womanhood and Mother Earth.

Commencing with Pahili Raja, the first day of the celebration sees girls adorning new clothes and participating in ‘Doli Khela’ on decorated swings with friends and family. A highlight of the occasion is indulging in various traditional Odia cuisines, including the beloved ‘poda pitha’.

President Droupadi Murmu and Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi have both conveyed their wishes to the people, emphasizing the festival’s significance in celebrating Odia tradition and culture.

Special events are being organized across the state, with Cuttack witnessing a bustling scene around shops selling ‘meetha paans’. Innovations like paans with 64 types of masalas and ‘fire paan’ have captivated festival-goers, enhancing the festive spirit.

The Raja Parba festivities continue to attract locals and visitors alike, promising happiness and prosperity as the celebrations unfold.
