4 from Rajasthan, 3 from UP Among 9 Killed in Reasi Pilgrims’ Bus Terror Attack

New Delhi: Bodies of nine pilgrims killed in the terrorist attack on a bus in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district were identified by the authorities on Monday.

The victims included four from Rajasthan, including a two-year-old boy, and three from Uttar Pradesh.

Around 41 pilgrims, mostly from Uttar Pradesh were injured in this terror attack. Ten of them received bullet wounds. The injured were between the ages of 3 and 50. The injured are being treated in three hospitals of Jammu and Reasi districts.

Terrorists opened fire at the pilgrims’ bus in Reasi district. The 53-seater bus was travelling from the Shiv Khori temple to Katra. It skidded off the road after facing the gunshot and fell into a deep gorge in the Poni area.

The victims included the driver and conductor of the bus. Driver Vijay Kumar hailed from Dasanoo Rajbagh village while conductor Arun Kumar was a native of Kandera village in Katra. The other victims are Rajinder Prasad Sawhney, Mamta Sawhney, Pooja Sawhney and her two-year-old son Titu Sawhney were from Jaipur in Rajasthan. Shivam Gupta, Ruby and 14-year-old Anurag Verma were from Uttar Pradesh.

Among the injured, 34 are from Uttar Pradesh, five from Delhi and two from Rajasthan, the officials said.
