Kharge Calls PM Modi “A Poisonous Snake”, Gets Slammed By BJP

New Delhi: Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge stirred controversy after referring to the prime minister as “a poisonous snake”.  Kharge eventually clarified his remarks, but by that point, he had given the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) more than enough justification for a harsh retaliation.

Kharge Prime Minister Modi to a “poisonous snake if you lick it, you’re dead…”  while speaking at a rally in Kalaburagi, Karnataka. The poll-bound state is scheduled for elections on May 10 and counting will be held on May 13.’

The Congress leader swiftly explained, though, that he intended to say that the BJP’s doctrine is “like a snake.” “I didn’t intend that for Prime Minister Modi; I meant that the BJP’s philosophy is ‘like a snake. I never stated this to PM Modi personally; rather, I suggested that their ideology was like a snake, and if you tried to touch it, you would definitely die.

However, the harm was already done. The BJP, which was quick to respond, not only demanded an apology from the Congress chief for his remarks but also made fun of the ‘dummy’ Congress president.

Union minister Anurag Thakur lashed out at Kharge, saying, “Congress made Mallikarjun Kharge the party president but nobody considers him that, so he thought of giving a statement which is worse than that given by Sonia Gandhi.”

Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai stated that Kharge’s mind is poisoned and added, “There is a poison in Kharge’s mind. It has prejudices towards Prime Minister Modi and the BJP. They are in a desperate state of mind since they are unable to defeat him politically and can see that their ship is capsized. People will teach them a lesson.”

“Mallikarjun Kharge is the president of Congress and a significant leader. What does he want the world to know? Using such language for the PM when PM Narendra Modi is the leader of our nation and is revered worldwide reveals how low Congress has sunk. BJP leader and Union minister Shobha Karandlaje stated, “We want him (Kharge) to apologise to the country.”
