Bhopal Man Cooks 3700 Kg Khichdi at a Time to Mark His Retirement

Bhopal: To make his retirement from his job memorable through a record-breaking bhandara or religious feast, a man of Bhopal cooked up of 3,700 kg khichri in a huge cauldron at a Sai Baba temple in the Awadhpuri area of Bhopal on Thursday evening.

This person named Ramesh Kumar Mahajan was serving at Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), Bhopal. He retired from the post of Technician Grade-1 on April 24 after 37 years of service in BHEL on April 24. He gave the khichdi feast at the temple on April 27.

On this occasion, he decided to offer a Khichri feast to over 15,000 people. It took over 6 hours to prepare this huge amount of khichdi in a massive iron pot weighing two tonnes. About Rs 5 lakh was spent in the preparation of this Khichdi.

Around 350 kg rice, 60 kg dal, and 380 kg of vegetable were used to prepare the 3,700 kg khichri in a single go.

The organisers have decided to approach the authorities of Guinness World Records about preparing the highest amount of khichdi at a time. Details of the preparation of Khichdi, its measurements, and its distribution among the devotees, have been recorded to be submitted to the authorities of Guinness World Records.
