9-Yr-Old Pregnant Tigress Dies in Rajasthan’s Mukundra Hills Tiger Reserve

Jaipur: A nine-year-old full-term pregnant tigress, ‘MT-4’ died at Mukundra Hills Tiger Reserve (MHTR) in Rajasthan on Thursday. ,

The tigress was pregnant with three cubs. It was suffering from severe constipation and died during treatment. T-4 was the only tigress at the reserve.

The postmortem report showed that the tigress was found full-term pregnant with three dead cubs in the womb.

The pregnant tigress was first spotted suffering from possible colic pain on April 29. A team of veterinary experts from Ranthambore and Kota carried out round-the-clock thorough monitoring of the tigress on April 30. The doctors found the tigress was suffering from severe constipation in colic and intestine and it was not able to release stool. On May 1, the pregnant tigress was tranquilised and administered enema. On Wednesday the tigress was diagnosed with prolapse of the rectum.

The tigress was gaining recovery but all of a sudden it died at around 1.15 pm on Thursday. It was the first case of prolapse of the rectum with a tiger in the country.
