Bandh Call By Maoists Hits Normal Life In Odisha’s Rayagada

Rayagada: Normal life was affected in Rayagada on Monday due to the bandh call by Maoists in the district over several demands.

Reportedly, the red rebels have blocked the road by cutting a tree, which has obstructed the traffic movement in the area. A poster has also surfaced at Pankalguri near Hanumantpur in Chandrapur block of Rayagada district.

The Maoist poster claimed that the poor in the state are deprived of education, health, and housing facilities and demanded that the government do the needful to do away with such alleged anomalies. The Maoists have also demanded the establishment of Adarsha Schools and hospitals in every panchayat of the district.

The Red outfit also demanded an old age pension of 3,000, an unemployment allowance of Rs.3000, and a monthly stipend of Rs 3,000 for SC/ST students.

The other demands made by the Red outfit include the distribution of forest land to poor people, the right valuation of forest products, to stop the sale of liquor, and fulfilling the demands of Anganwadi and teachers.
