Centre Releases ₹200 Crore Immediate Aid for Flood Relief in Himachal Pradesh

New Delhi: The Indian government has approved ₹200 crore in immediate aid to Himachal Pradesh, which has been severely affected by heavy rains and flooding. The aid will be used to support the state’s relief efforts and to help those who have been displaced by the floods.

The central government has been closely monitoring the situation in Himachal Pradesh and has already provided ₹360.80 crore in two phases from the State Disaster Response Fund. In addition, ₹189.27 crore in past dues was released from the National Disaster Response Fund to the state on August 7.

The government has also deployed twenty teams from the National Disaster Response Force, nine Indian Army columns, and three Indian Air Force helicopters to assist with rescue and relief operations.

The monsoon season has been particularly harsh in Himachal Pradesh this year, with all twelve districts affected by heavy rains, floods, landslides, and cloudbursts. Tragically, the monsoon’s onset in the state has resulted in the loss of at least 330 lives.
