UP Thief Falls Asleep During Theft, Wakes Up Amidst Cops

Lucknow: A thief had the shock of his life during his theft attempt at a doctor’s residence in Lucknow. Due to extreme intoxication, he dozed off while committing the theft.

When he woke up the following morning, he was startled to find policemen all around him.

This startling incident occurred in Sector-20 of Indira Nagar, under the Ghazipur police station of Lucknow.

The thief broke into the house of a doctor named Sunil Pandey, who had left the house unoccupied.

In the morning, neighbours found the door of the house open and became suspicious. When they peeped in, they found the house ransacked. They called up the local police.

After reaching the spot, the cops found the thief, identified as Kapil, sleeping. He was arrested and was booked under IPC section 379 A for theft.

He had managed to break open the cupboards in the house and had taken out the valuables including cash. The thief even tried to steal the washbasin, gas cylinder, and water pump.

But because of heavy intoxication, the thief collapsed and fell asleep to be caught by the police, the next morning.
