N Chandrababu Naidu Set for Fourth Term as Andhra Pradesh CM

Amaravati: Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief N Chandrababu Naidu is set to take the oath as Andhra Pradesh’s Chief Minister on June 9, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi expected to attend the ceremony, according to sources. This marks Naidu’s fourth term as Chief Minister, having previously led undivided Andhra Pradesh from 1995 to 2004 and the newly formed state post-bifurcation in 2014.

The TDP-led alliance heading for a landslide victory, securing leads in 158 out of 175 assembly seats. Naidu’s return follows a significant defeat to the YSR Congress Party in 2019, with a comeback fueled by anti-establishment sentiment and a strategic alliance with Pawan Kalyan’s Jana Sena Party (JSP) and the BJP.

The TDP has independently garnered a decisive lead in 133 constituencies, solidifying its majority. Naidu is leading in Kuppam, a constituency he has represented since 1989, while his son, TDP general secretary Nara Lokesh, is ahead in the Mangalagiri constituency, reversing his previous defeat.

In the Lok Sabha polls, the TDP is leading in 16 out of 25 seats, with the tripartite alliance ahead in 21. This marks a significant recovery from 2019 when the TDP secured only 23 assembly seats and three Lok Sabha seats.
