New Delhi: In response to a viral video from the Rashtrapati Bhavan oath-taking ceremony, the Delhi Police have clarified the presence of a “mysterious” animal. Social media was abuzz with claims of a “cat-like” creature seen as BJP MP Durga Das Uikey greeted President Droupadi Murmu after his oath as a minister.
Addressing the rumours, the Delhi Police stated, “Some media channels and social media handles are showing an animal image captured during the live telecast of the oath-taking ceremony, claiming it to be a wild animal. These facts are not true; the animal captured on camera is a common house cat. Please don’t adhere to such frivolous rumours.”

The sighting led to speculation that the animal might be a leopard, causing quite a stir given the high-security environment of Rashtrapati Bhavan. However, a Delhi Police official confirmed there are only dogs and domestic cats within the complex. The Forest Department also confirmed no prior leopard sightings in the presidential estate.
