Bhubaneswar: In a move to enhance digital outreach and responsiveness, the Odisha government has directed all hospitals across the state to establish an official presence on the social media platform X.
The directive, issued on Tuesday by Shalini Pandit, secretary of the Health & Family Welfare Department, applies to Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar, RGH Hospital in Rourkela, district headquarters hospitals, sub-divisional hospitals, community health centres, and public health centres in the state.
The official letter specifies that each hospital must create a social media account under the designation of the medical officer in charge of the facility. This initiative follows instructions issued by the Health & Family Welfare Minister during a departmental review on June 18th.
Once established, these social media handles are expected to address and respond to public concerns raised through the platform. Hospitals are required to report their compliance to the Director of Health Services within three working days.
This initiative aims to enhance public engagement and ensure timely responsiveness to healthcare needs expressed via social media.
