Pune Porsche Crash: Teen’s Father Granted Bail in Juvenile Justice Act Case

Pune: A Pune court on Friday granted bail to Vishal Agarwal, the father of the juvenile involved in the Porsche crash that resulted in the deaths of two IT professionals last month.

The court also released five others on bail, including the owner and managers of two bars, Cosie and Club Blak, accused of serving alcohol to the underage driver.

The incident occurred on May 19 in Kalyani Nagar when a speeding Porsche, allegedly driven by the intoxicated teen, collided with a motorcycle, killing two software professionals. The case gained national attention due to the Juvenile Justice Board member LN Danwade’s decision to grant the juvenile bail under lenient conditions, including writing a 300-word essay on road safety.

The teen’s father was charged under sections 75 and 77 of the Juvenile Justice Act for neglecting his child’s welfare and allowing him to consume alcohol and drive without a license. According to the FIR, Agrawal knowingly permitted his son to drive the car and consume alcohol despite his underage status.

However, Agrawal and his wife remain in judicial custody concerning allegations of swapping their son’s blood sample. Additionally, Agrawal faces charges of kidnapping and wrongful confinement of his driver.
