85-Year-Old Grandmother Tied by Couple in Kerala To Steal Her Jewellery, Cash; Arrested

Thiruvananthapuram: A couple was arrested in Kollam district of Kerala for robbing their 85-year-old maternal grandmother of gold ornaments and cash.

The accused were Parvathy and her husband Sarath. Both in their late twenties, were arrested from Thiruvananthapuram on Friday following a complaint by the victim named Yashoda, hailing from Uliyakovil.

According to police investigation, Parvathy was staying with the elderly woman. On Thursday, Parvathy and her husband tied up the old woman and forcefully snatched away her gold ornaments and Rs 25,000 kept in her almirah.

Later the grandmother lodged a police complaint and the couple was arrested from Kazhakkoottam in neighbouring Thiruvananthapuram on Friday.
