‘Illegal’ Construction Being Demolished at ex-BJD MLA Pranab Prakash Das’ Govt Quarters

Bhubaneswar: Alleged illegal constructions at former BJD MLA and the party’s organisational secretary Pranab Prakash Das’ government quarter in Bhubaneswar were demolished on Tuesday.

It is not yet ascertained, which department is involved in the demolition work and for what reason.

According to sources, the illegal constructions being demolished at the former MLA’s government quarters include a four-storey building having an underground floor.

Although only Rs 9 lakh was spent officially for the renovation of this government quarter, it is alleged more than Rs 9 crore was spent on the constructions on its premises.

It is alleged that Das used three government quarters and converted them into one.

After the BJP formed the government in the state and the former MLA handed over the quarters, the demolition of the ‘illegal’ construction has started.

Reacting to the recent developments, BJD’s organisational secretary Pranab Prakash Das said to the media that government quarters were returned in the same condition in which they were allotted. According to him, a temporary extension that was built in the official residence is being removed.
