Buffalo Solves Ownership Dispute in UP Village!

Lucknow: The police personnel in Uttar Pradesh’s Pratapgarh district relied on a buffalo to resolve an ownership dispute in an innovative way.

The buffalo owned by Nandlal Saroj, a resident of Rai Askaranpur village under Maheshganj police station of the district. The buffalo reached the Purey Harikesh village where one Hanuman Saroj allegedly kept it.

Nandlal managed to locate his buffalo after three days, but Hanuman refused to return the buffalo claiming that it was his. Nandlal then registered a complaint against Hanuman at the Maheshganj police station. Cops called both the claimants to the police station on Thursday.

A panchayat meeting was called up to decide the ownership of the buffalo. But the panchayat failed to decide the owner of the buffalo even after discussing for several hours.

At last the SHO of Maheshganj police station, Shravan Kumar Singh came up with a way to resolve the dispute.

He declared before the panchayat that the decision should be left to the buffalo itself. The buffalo will be left on the road alone, and the person whom it will follow will be declared its owner.

The panchayat agreed to the decision and the buffalo was released while Nandlal and Hanuman were asked to stand on the route to their respective villages.

When the policemen released the buffalo it took the route straightaway to Rai Askaranpur village following Nandlal. As per the decision, the buffalo was handed over to Nandlal.

The other claimant was reprimanded by both, police and the panchayat for his false claim.
