Odisha CM Announces Rs 4 Lakh Compensation For Family of Rath Yatra Victim

Puri: A devotee died of suffocation and at least 40 others were injured in a stampede like situation that occurred during the Rath Yatra in Puri on Sunday.

The victim identified as Lalit Bagarti, a resident of Balangir in Odisha, died due to suffocation while attempting to pull the ‘Taladhwaja Chariot’ of Lord Balabhadra.

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced financial assistance of Rs 4 lakhs for the family of the departed devotee.

CM Majhi expressed his deep grief over the death of the devotee and extended his condolences to the bereaved family, praying for the enlightenment of the departed soul.

Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling, Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, and Health Secretary Shalini Pandit visited hospitals to inquire about the well-being of those receiving treatment for their injuries.
