2 Soldiers Injured After Terrorists Open Fire On Army Vehicles In J&K; Second Attack In 2 Days

Srinagar: In a fresh attack, terrorists targeted an army vehicle in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district, bordering Punjab’s Pathankot on Monday. This marks the second attack on security forces in the region within two days.

Two soldiers were injured in the attack, which is currently being repelled by security forces. Reinforcements have been rushed to the encounter site.

This follows a previous attack on an army camp in Manhakote, Rajouri, where terrorists injured a soldier before facing retaliation from troops. Currently, an encounter is ongoing in response to the latest attack, with reinforcements swiftly deployed to the area.

This attack comes just a day after security forces eliminated six terrorists across separate encounters in the Kulgam district. These encounters, initiated based on intelligence reports, claimed the lives of two soldiers and left another injured.

In a separate incident, there were reports of gunfire near an army camp in Rajouri district, resulting in one soldier being wounded. Authorities are investigating whether this was part of an attempted terror attack.

Security sources have attributed the recent surge in terror attacks in J&K to Saifullah Sajid Jatt, a Pakistan-based operative linked to the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba outfit. The NIA has placed a bounty of ₹10 lakh on his head for his involvement in terror activities.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently addressed Parliament, stating that the anti-terror operations in Jammu and Kashmir are nearing completion, employing a comprehensive strategy to dismantle the remaining terror networks.

The region has witnessed a series of terror incidents in recent months, underscoring ongoing security challenges despite efforts to curb extremist activities.
