Agitating Bengal Junior Docs Call Off ‘Cease Work’ Partially

Kolkata: As the West Bengal government has accepted most of their demands, the agitating junior doctors in West Bengal called off their ‘cease work’ agitation “partially” and agreed to rejoin their duties at emergency and essential services in state-run hospitals from Saturday.

These junior doctors were on ‘cease work’ strike for the last 41 days to protest against the rape and murder of a woman doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.

The agitating doctors also declared that they would end their dharna outside Swasthya Bhawan in Kolkata on Friday.

Before lifting the dharna, they would hold a march from Swasthya Bhawan, the state health department headquarters, to CBI office in Salt Lake area.

The protesting doctors said they will not serve in the Out Patient Department (OPD) but will work partially in emergency and essential services.
