14-Yr-Old Boy Dies As Prank Goes Wrong; Shocked Father Ends Life Later

Bhubaneswar: A 14-year-old boy died while pretending to hang himself with a saree to scare his sister during a quarrel at Lamptibahal area under Brajarajnagar police station limits in Jharsuguda district on Thursday. His shocked and grief-stricken father committed suicide just hours later.

According to reports, the deceased boy identified as Rohan Singh had a fight with his sister and tried to scare her by pretending to hang himself using their mother’s saree. But this prank proved fatal for the boy, whose fake hanging attempt turned real.

The boy was rushed to Mandalia Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.

Shocked by this incident, Rohan’s father, Jhasaketan Singh (40) committed suicide on Thursday late night by hanging himself. His body was found hanging on Friday morning.

Personnel of the Brajarajnagar police station reached the spot and sent the body for post-mortem.

Police have registered two separate cases of unnatural death and an investigation continues.
