Naxalism Will Be Eradicated by 2026: Amit Shah

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced on Friday that the Centre is committed to eradicating Naxalism by March 2026. He credited the Modi government’s policies for restricting Left Wing Extremism (LWE) to a few districts in Chhattisgarh, emphasising that Naxalism poses a threat to both humanity and the country’s internal security.

Shah made these remarks during an interaction at his New Delhi residence with 55 victims of Naxalite violence from Chhattisgarh. The group, organised under the Bastar Peace Committee, also showcased a documentary detailing the struggles of those impacted by LWE. Several victims shared their personal experiences with the Home Minister.

Shah revealed that the Centre and the Chhattisgarh government would roll out a comprehensive development plan for LWE-affected individuals within three months. This initiative aims to provide healthcare, employment, and other welfare schemes to those affected by Naxal violence, particularly in Chhattisgarh.

Highlighting the government’s developmental efforts in these areas, Shah remarked that the Modi administration had sent a strong message to Naxalites, asserting that saving lives is far more valuable than taking them. He also called upon those advocating for Naxalite human rights to consider the plight of their victims.

Appealing to Naxalites to renounce violence and integrate into society, Shah expressed confidence that with the elimination of LWE by 2026, Bastar would once again flourish as a peaceful and developed region.
