Hasina Supporter Student Leader Beaten to Death on Univ Campus in Dhaka

A pro-Sheikh Hasina Hasina student leader was beaten to death at his university campus in Dhaka.

It seemed to be a revenge attack. He opposed the uprising that ousted ex-PM Sheikh Hasina in August. The deceased identified as Shamim Ahmed was a student of Jahangirnagar University in Dhaka

Ahmad was a top member of the student wing of Hasina’s Awami League party.

Unidentified assailants thrashed him to death on Wednesday night. Ahmed is the second leader of the Awami League’s student wing to be killed this month.

Another student leader of the Awami League was beaten to death by a mob in the northern city of Rajshahi on Sept 8. He was also accused of leading counter-demonstrations against the student-led uprising against Hasina.

Several cabinet ministers and other senior members of Hasina’s party have been arrested. At least 25 journalists close to Hasina’s regime have also been taken into custody.
