Atishi To Take Oath as Delhi’s Youngest CM Today with 5 Ministers

New Delhi: AAP leader Atishi will take oath as the youngest Chief Minister of Delhi on Saturday afternoon. Five MLAs will also take oath with her as part of the new council of ministers.

Atishi is an Oxford University alumna and a Rhodes scholar. She will be the third woman Chief Minister of Delhi after Sushma Swaraj and Sheila Dikshit.

The swearing-in ceremony will be held at the Raj Bhavan at 4.30 pm.

The ministers to take oath include AAP veterans Gopal Rai, Kailash Gahlot, Saurabh Bharadwaj, and Imran Hussain. A first-time MLA from Sultanpur Majra and AAP’s Dalit leader Mukesh Ahlawat will also be part of the cabinet.

Atishi was unanimously chosen as the next CM during the AAP legislature party meeting on Tuesday following the decision of Arvind Kejriwal to step down from the post.

The AAP chief decided to resign as Delhi CM after he was granted bail by the Supreme Court in a corruption case related to the alleged Delhi liquor policy scam.

Delhi Assembly polls are to be held in February 2025. Kejriwal said he would return as Chief Minister only if voters give him a “certificate of honesty”.
