The women members of the BJD staged a dharna outside the Raj Bhavan shouting slogans against the state’s BJP government for failing to protect women.

They demanded a court-monitored SIT probe and judicial inquiry into the alleged torture of the army officer and his fiancée at the Bharatpur police station in Bhubaneswar.

The members of the youth and students wings of the Congress staged a demonstration and attempted to gherao the official residence of the CM, demanding his resignation.

The Congress agitators threw tomatoes and eggs at the chief minister’s residence, which did not reach their intended target, as the Congress protesters were stopped by the police at a distance from it.
