Shopkeeper Murdered For Refusing to Sell Tobacco in UP; 3 Brothers Booked

Muzaffarnagar (UP): Three brothers have been booked for allegedly murdering a shopkeeper in Kurthal village after he refused to sell them a tobacco packet, police said on Sunday.

The accused, identified as Deepak, Tillu and Mangu, reportedly attacked 50-year-old shopkeeper Rajveer Kashyap with a spear late Saturday night, killing him instantly. According to the victim’s family, the brothers arrived at Kashyap’s shop intoxicated and became violent when he declined their request for tobacco.

Following the incident, the Kashyap community staged protests, demanding strict action against the culprits. Police have tightened security in the village to prevent any escalation.

Circle Officer (CO) Gajendrapal Singh stated that three police teams have been deployed to track down the absconding brothers. Kashyap’s body has been sent for post-mortem.
