Brazilian Woman Smuggling Rs 9.73 Cr Worth Cocaine Capsules Inside Her Body Held at Mumbai Airport

Mumbai: A Brazilian woman, who had swallowed 124 cocaine-filled capsules was arrested by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) at the Mumbai international airport, an official said.

The value of the cocaine being smuggled by the Brazilian woman is estimated to be Rs 9.73 crore. Investigation continues to arrest other members of the international drug syndicate.

The woman landed from Sao Paulo on Wednesday. She was intercepted on a specific intelligence input.

The woman had swallowed the capsules containing cocaine to smuggle them to India. She was produced before a magistrate and admitted to the state-run JJ Hospital here.

She purged 124 capsules containing 973 grams of cocaine worth Rs 9.73 crore in the illicit market.
