2 Minor Girls Sexually Assaulted In Rourkela; 3 Youths Arrested

Rourkela: Police have nabbed three youths involved in the alleged gang rape of two minor girls at a deserted spot behind Birsa Munda multi-purpose stadium under the Plant Site police station limits in Odisha’s Rourkela on Saturday evening.

According to sources, this incident of gang rape happened between 5 pm and 8.30 pm. The two victims were in Rourkela market to buy shoes. The three miscreants offered to drop them back at their home on the pretext that the area was not safe for them.

But the miscreants took the girls forcefully in an autorickshaw to a secluded place behind the stadium, where they gang raped one of the victims and also sexually assaulted the other girl.

The girls managed to escape even as the perpetrators called four other associates to the spot. They then called their relative who informed a social worker, who helped them file a police complaint on Sunday.

A case for kidnapping, gangrape of minors, criminal intimidation was registered under provisions of BNS 137(2), 70(2), 351(4) as well as section 6 of POCSO.
