Snake Burnt Alive on Funeral Pyre With Man It Killed In Chattisgarh

Raipur: A snake was burnt alive in the funeral pyre of a 22-year-old man, who had died after the venomous snake bit him at the Baigamar village in Chhattisgarh’s Korba district.

The locals caught the snake and burnt the reptile alive on the funeral pyre of the deceased youth as the locals feared that the snake might harm someone else. It was a common krait.

A video of some villagers dragging the live snake using a rope has appeared on social media.

A youth identified as Digeshwar Rathiya was bitten by a common krait on Saturday night while he was arranging his bed in a room at his house in Baigamar village. He was rushed to a government hospital in Korba where he died on Sunday morning.

The villagers had caught the snake and kept it inside a covered basket. During the funeral procession of the youth, the villagers tied the snake with a rope hanging from a stick and dragged it to the cremation ground, a video of which surfaced on social media.

Later, they burnt the snake alive on the funeral pyre of Rathiya.
