Bengaluru Woman’s Murder: Prime Suspect Identified Following Discovery of Body Parts in Fridge

Bengaluru: The prime suspect in the gruesome murder of a woman in Bengaluru, whose body was discovered in pieces stored in a refrigerator, has been identified, city police commissioner B Dayanand confirmed today.

Authorities are actively working to apprehend the suspect. “The investigation is ongoing from all possible angles. We have identified the prime suspect, and efforts are being made to arrest him,” Dayanand informed the media. “He is not a local resident, but further details cannot be disclosed as it may aid the suspect,” he added.

Earlier, Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara mentioned that significant clues have been gathered by the police. “The investigation has yielded substantial information. While we are still collecting more details, we have identified an individual, believed to be from West Bengal,” he stated.

Regarding women’s safety, the minister emphasised that the government is taking necessary precautions. “We are highly conscious of women’s safety and have already implemented several measures.”

The dismembered remains of the woman, identified as Mahalakshmi, were found on Saturday in a fridge inside her Bengaluru home. Mahalakshmi, who lived alone in a single-bedroom apartment, was originally from another state but had been residing in Karnataka. She worked at a mall, while her husband was employed in a different city. Police believe she was murdered over two weeks before the discovery, as the body parts were severely decomposed.

This case has sparked a political controversy, with the Opposition BJP criticising the Siddaramaiah-led Congress government. The BJP’s Karnataka wing took to social media platform X, accusing the Congress of failing to ensure public safety.
