Amid Tirupati Laddu Row, Tamil Director Arrested After Claiming Impotency Drug Mixed with Palani Temple Prasad

Chennai: Popular Tamil film director Mohan G has been arrested by the Trichy Police’s cybercrime unit for claiming that medicine causing impotency in men was mixed with the ‘panchamirtham’ (prasadam) served at the Palani temple. The controversial remark was made during an interview on a YouTube channel where he also discussed the recent Tirupati laddu controversy involving animal fat.

Mohan G, known for films like Draupathi, Rudrathandavam and Bagasuran, said that similar incidents had allegedly occurred in Tamil Nadu. He stated, “I heard that medicine causing impotency was mixed with panchamirtham. That news was suppressed, and the panchamirtham was destroyed. We shouldn’t speak without evidence, but no clear explanation was provided. Those working there mentioned that birth control pills were an attack on Hindus.”

Tamil Nadu Minister for Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments, Sekar Babu, has warned of strict action against anyone spreading false information about the Palani temple’s prasadam.

Meanwhile, BJP leader Ashwathaman criticised Mohan G’s arrest, labelling it unconstitutional. He also claimed the director’s family was not informed about the arrest, which he said violates Supreme Court guidelines.

The controversy erupted when a lab report from Gujarat, dated July 17, suggested the presence of animal fat in the ghee samples. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s Telugu Desam Party (TDP) brought the issue to light, prompting the CM to order a special police investigation. Naidu, who has accused non-Hindus of influencing temple management, stressed that “many inappropriate things” occurred in recent years and promised that non-Hindus would no longer be allowed on the temple board.

In response, ex-CM Jagan Reddy denied the accusations and wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling Naidu a “pathological liar” and accusing him of politicising religious matters.
