Abortion Performed At Home Kills Pune Woman; Husband Arrested

Pune: In a shocking incident, a clandestine abortion procedure performed at home in Pune of Maharashtra claimed the life of a 24-year-old woman.

Police have arrested the woman’s husband and father-in-law. Her mother-in-law was also booked in connection with the case.

During investigation, police also recovered and seized the four-month-old aborted foetus that was buried in the family’s farm.

A private doctor, who was allegedly involved in this clandestine abortion is also under police scrutiny.

The deceased woman, who got married to the accused in 2017 had two children, a girl and a boy. She had got pregnant for the third time.

Police suspect that the family tried to abort the foetus at home secretly when they discovered that it was female.

Following the abortion at home, the woman became critical on Sunday due to heavy bleeding. Although she was rsuhed to a hospital the next day, she died en route.

The FIR was filed based on the complaint of the deceased woman’s brother. After this, her husband and father-in-law were arrested.
