ICC Announces All-Female Match Officials Panel for Women’s T20 World Cup 2024

Dubai: The ICC has announced that the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 will feature an all-female panel of match officials. The panel includes 13 officials—10 umpires and three match referees—for the tournament, which will be hosted by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) in the UAE.

Claire Polosak, who has officiated in four previous editions, will lead the panel. Kim Cotton and Jacqueline Williams, who both officiated in the final of the last edition, also return for their fourth tournament. Sue Redfern, who served as the TV umpire for the last final, is also making her fourth appearance, while Zimbabwe’s Sarah Dambanevana will make her debut.

ICC Senior Manager for Umpires and Referees, Sean Easey, expressed pride in the all-female lineup, stating that the selection was based on recent form, with the chosen officials being among the best in the world. He wished them success in overseeing the tournament’s matches.

The 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup will see 10 teams compete across 23 matches, starting with an opening game between Bangladesh and Scotland on October 3 in Sharjah. Warm-up matches will begin on September 28.
