Rishabh Pant Returns to ICC Test Rankings at 6th; Rohit, Kohli Slip

Riding high on a century in his Test comeback, wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant made a striking return to the ICC Test rankings, securing sixth position with 731 points. Pant’s ton came during the first Test of the two-match series against Bangladesh in Chennai.

Yashasvi Jaiswal (751) also moved up to fifth place, thanks to a half-century in the same match.

India’s skipper Rohit Sharma dropped five places to the 10th spot with 716 points following two underwhelming performances. Virat Kohli, meanwhile, slipped out of the top 10 and now sits at 12th.

In bowling, Sri Lanka’s Prabath Jayasuriya surged into eighth position, gaining five places after a nine-wicket haul in the Test against New Zealand. He leads his compatriots with 743 points, while Asitha Fernando dropped to 13th with 700 points.

Other notable movers include Sri Lanka’s Kamindu Mendis, who advanced to 16th in batting, and Dhananjaya de Silva, who climbed to 18th in the all-rounder rankings.

In the ODI rankings, Afghanistan’s Rahmanullah Gurbaz became the first player from his nation to break into the top 10 of the ICC Men’s ODI Batting Rankings. His seventh ODI century moved him up 10 spots to eighth place (692 points). Travis Head of Australia jumped to ninth after scoring a stunning 154* against England.

Afghan spinner Rashid Khan also made strides, advancing to third in the ODI Bowling Rankings with 668 points, after claiming seven wickets in Afghanistan’s historic ODI series win over South Africa.
