92nd Birthday of Manmohan Singh; PM Modi, Kharge, Rahul Extend Wishes

New Delhi: Former Prime Minister, economist and Congress leader Manmohan Singh turned 92 on Thursday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended wishes to his immediate predecessor and wrote on X, “Birthday greetings to former PM Dr. Manmohan Singh Ji. I pray that he is blessed with a long and healthy life.”

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge extended his wishes to the former prime minister.

Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi in his post said, “Happy Birthday to Dr. Manmohan Singh Ji. Your humility, wisdom, and selfless service in shaping our country’s future continue to inspire me and millions of Indians. Wishing you good health and happiness always!”

Manmohan Singh was Born in Gah, West Punjab, now in Pakistan on September 26, 1932. He studied at Panjab University, Chandigarh, and University of Cambridge. He got a doctorate in economics from University of Oxford. He was an economic advisor to Government of India and later headed the RBI.

He became a Rajya Sabha member in 1991. When the Congress-led UPA came to power in 2004, he became the Prime Minister and remained in the post till 2014.
