Team Management Warns KL Rahul Amid Poor Form, Sarfaraz Khan Waits in the Wings

KL Rahul, once a mainstay in India’s Test and T20I squads, is currently facing a significant slump in form. His recent performances, particularly in the Test series against Bangladesh, have raised concerns about his place in the team.

Rahul’s struggles were evident in the first Test in Chennai, where he failed to make a significant impact in either innings. Despite his experience and proven ability in subcontinent conditions, Rahul’s batting has lacked the consistency and aggression required at the highest level.

Ahead of the second Test, reports suggest the team management has issued a warning to Rahul, signalling his spot in the playing XI could be in jeopardy as Sarfaraz Khan, a proven performer in subcontinent conditions, is waiting in the wings as a potential replacement.

Rahul’s struggles aren’t limited to international matches. In his only appearance in the Duleep Trophy this year, he scored 37 off 111 and 57 off 121 deliveries. His cautious approach drew criticism, as the management expected more intent from the experienced batter.

A BCCI official acknowledged that Rahul has been playing “in a shell” for some time now, affecting his ability to convert starts.
