4 Members of “Surat Gang” of Chain Snatchers Nabbed in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police has arrested four members of the “Surat Gang” that was involved in a series of chain snatching incidents reported from different parts of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack in the past two months.

Speaking to the media, Twin City Police Commissioner Sanjeeb Panda said that the criminals of this gang were involved in the gold chain snatching incidents.

The gang was headed by Subhas Pradhan. He was operating the gang along with his associate Amit Sarangi. Subhas started his criminal activity in Surat of Gujarat and has a murder case pending against him. Both were released on bail in 2018. Later Subhas was injured in a police encounter.

Subhas again escaped to Surat and had returned to Odisha a few months back. The members of the Surat gang were involved in multiple criminal cases in Surat and Odisha. The gang is involved in at least nine cases in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.

Eight gold chains, two bikes, two mobile phones and other sharp weapons were seized from the arrested members of the gang.
