Case Registered by Lokayukta Against Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah in Land Scam

Bengaluru: The Karnataka Lokayukta registered a case against Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in an alleged scam linked to the land allocation by the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) on Friday.

Two days back, a special court in Bengaluru had ordered a Lokayukta police probe against Siddaramaiah over the allegations that his wife allocated premium properties by the MUDA in violation of norms.

On September 24, the Karnataka High Court dismissed the petition filed by Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah challenging the legality of the Governor’s decision to prosecute him over alleged irregularities in the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scheme.

A bench headed by Justice M Nagaprasanna dismissed Siddaramaiah’s plea challenging the sanction granted by Karnataka Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot to three people to file corruption cases against Siddaramaiah over the land that MUDA granted to his wife BM Parvathi.

The case relates to allegations that compensatory sites were allotted to BM Parvathi in an upmarket area in Mysuru that had higher property value as compared to the location of her land that had been “acquired” by MUDA.
