Amid Tirupati Laddu Row, Odisha Govt, SJTA to Begin Regular Quality Checks of Puri Srimandir Mahaprasad

Puri: In response to recent quality concerns surrounding temple prasad, the Odisha government and the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) have announced a new initiative to ensure the highest standards for Mahaprasad and ghee at the revered Puri Jagannath Temple.

Speaking to the media on Friday, Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan revealed that following the controversy surrounding the prasad laddoos in Tirupati temple, the state government and the SJTA have decided to implement rigorous quality checks on all ingredients and the final Mahaprasad.

“To maintain the sanctity and purity of the Mahaprasad, we will conduct joint inspections of the items before they are used in the temple’s kitchen and again after the Mahaprasad is prepared,” Minister Harichandan stated. The Health Department has been tasked with providing food inspectors for these quality control measures, and the government plans to appoint dedicated food inspectors specifically for the Srimandir in the near future.

“We are aware of the unfortunate incidents that have occurred at other temples and are taking proactive steps to prevent such occurrences in Odisha’s temples,” Harichandan assured.
