Bharatpur Custodial Assault: Lady Officer’s Mother Moves Orissa HC Against Army Major’s Fiancée

Cuttack: In a key development in the Bharatpur custodial assault case, the mother of the woman police officer, allegedly bitten by the Army major’s fiancée, has filed a petition in the Orissa High Court, accusing the latter of defying a court order.

The Orissa High Court had issued an order on September 23 barring the mention of the Army major and his fiancée’s names in any electronic, print, or social media outlets.

The petitioner, the police officer’s mother, claimed that despite the order, the victim appeared in an interview on a national TV channel. During the interview, she not only disclosed her identity but also made statements suggesting the police were at fault, even though the investigation is still ongoing.

She further argued that this act violated their right to privacy and urged the court to take action against the victim for breaching the court’s order. The petition is expected to be mentioned on Monday, with the next hearing slated for November 3.
