Villagers Thrash Leopard to Death After It Attacks Homeguard In UP

Lucknow: A leopard was allegedly beaten to death in a village in Uttar Pradesh’s Bijnor district after it attacked a homeguard jawan.

This incident happened in Amannagar village of Bijnor district on Friday evening. A homeguard named Surendra had gone to a tubewell behind his house with his three children, when a leopard sitting on a nearby mango tree pounced on him. Hearing his scream for help, villagers rushed to the spot and beat the leopard with lathis. The wild animal died on the spot. According to the villagers, the homeguard’s children showed immense courage and fought with the leopard for around ten minutes to save their father before the locals reached the spot.  The post-mortem of the leopard has been done. It was a female leopard aged around three years.
