Gang Rape During Theft in Bhubaneswar; Two Detained by Police

Bhubaneswar: Two persons were detained by the personnel of the Maitri Vihar police station on Wednesday in connection with the theft and gang-rape of a woman in an apartment on Sunday night.

Police have not revealed the identity of the detained persons who are being interrogated.

On Sunday night, two thieves broke into an apartment under Maitri Vihar police station limits on Sunday night with the intention of theft. After stealing valuables, they targeted the victim, who was alone in the apartment with her two-year-old baby. Threatening to kill the baby, they raped the woman. The shocked woman could garner courage to file a at Maitri Vihar police station on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, human rights activist Jayant Das has lodged a complaint in this regard with the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC).
