Woman Murdered by Son As She Refused to Give Him Her ATM Card

Jharsuguda: A woman was allegedly murdered by her son as she refused to give some money to him at the Limadhi village under the Rengali police station in the Jharsuguda district.

The deceased identified as Bhagabati Mirdha (60) was killed by her son Gajadhar Mirdha.

Bhagabati had three sons. Her eldest and youngest sons are employed and have no problem in running their families. But the middle son, Gajadhar, was reportedly an alcoholic. He is unmarried and lived on money of his parents.

Recently the family received some money after the maturity of an insurance policy. The was deposited in the accounts of the eldest and youngest sons.

Gajadhar demanded his mother, Bhagabati, hand over her ATM card so that he would withdraw his share of insurance money. But Bhagabati suspected that Gajadhar will waste the money  on liquor. So, she refused to hand over the ATM card to him.

This enraged Gajadhar. He used a brick to hit the head and chest of his mother.

Later, other family members found Bhagabati in injured state. Gajadhar lied that she had fallen and injured herself. Bhagabati died while undergoing treatment at a private hospital.

On a tip-off, police have detained Gajadhar. The brick used in the murder has been seized. According to reports, Gajadhar has confessed to the murder.

The police have registered a murder case and sent the body for post-mortem.
