Kamala Harris’ Husband Doug Emhoff Slapped Ex-Girlfriend at Cannes: Report

Months after Douglas Emhoff, husband of US Vice President Kamala Harris, admitted to having an affair during his first marriage, a new report has surfaced accusing him of slapping an ex-girlfriend. According to a British tabloid, Emhoff allegedly struck the woman, a New York attorney, in the face for “flirting” with a valet worker at a Cannes Film Festival in May 2012.

The report, citing friends of the woman, claims she had been dating Emhoff for three months when the incident occurred. This allegation follows Emhoff’s acknowledgement in August of an extramarital affair during his first marriage with Kerstin Emhoff. In a statement to CNN, Emhoff, 59, took responsibility for his actions, saying that despite the challenges, his family had emerged stronger.

Earlier reports from the British tabloid revealed that Emhoff’s affair with a teacher, who worked at his children’s school, contributed to the dissolution of his first marriage. The woman reportedly became pregnant but did not carry the child. Emhoff and Kerstin, who divorced in 2009, share two children, Cole and Ella. Kamala Harris, whom Emhoff married in 2014, was reportedly aware of the affair before their marriage.
