Man Trampled to Death by Wild Tusker In Sundargarh Dist

Rourkela: A person was trampled to death by a stray wild elephant at Patmunda village under Koida Forest Range of  Sundargarh district on Thursday night.

The deceased was identified as Sama Munda (50).

According to reports, a stray wild tusker broke into the house of Sama Munda on Thursday night. Sama and his family tried to escape. All of them managed to escape to a safe place, except Sama, who was caught by the tusker. The wild pachyderm lifted Sama by its trunk and crushed him under its feet.

Locals demonstrated demanding compensation to Sama’s family.

The Forest Department officials rushed to the spot to shoo away the wild elephant. They sent the body for post-mortem and promised proper compensation for Sama’s family.
