Customs Officials Seize 12 iPhone 16 Pro Max Devices at Delhi Airport

New Delhi: Customs officials at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport have intercepted a group of four passengers attempting to smuggle 12 newly launched iPhone 16 Pro Max devices into India. The incident occurred on Tuesday when the passengers arrived on an Indigo flight (6E-1464) from Dubai.

In a post on its official ‘X’ handle, the Delhi Customs announced, “Customs@IGI Airport seized 12 iPhone 16 Pro Max from a group of four passengers trying to smuggle these iPhones from Dubai by indigo flight 6E-1464 on 01.10.2024.”

The iPhone 16 Pro Max, Apple’s latest flagship smartphone lineup launched globally last month, has become a target for smugglers. This seizure is notable as it follows another significant incident where customs officials seized 26 iPhone 16 Pro Max units hidden in a vanity bag carried by a woman arriving from Hong Kong. The passenger, in her late thirties, was intercepted after her arrival at the Delhi airport, leading to the recovery of the concealed devices, which were wrapped in tissue paper.

This string of high-profile seizures highlights ongoing efforts by customs officials to curb the smuggling of luxury electronics into India.
