36 Maoists Killed in Major Anti-Insurgency Operation in Chhattisgarh

Raipur: In a major victory against Maoist insurgents, security forces killed thirty-six Maoists in a fierce encounter in the forests along the Narayanpur-Dantewada border on Friday.

The joint operation, involving the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Special Task Force (STF), commenced yesterday, with the firefight beginning around 12:30 pm today.

Several assault rifles, including AK-series weapons, were recovered from the scene.

Acting on intelligence about a large Maoist presence, separate teams were deployed to Govel, Nendur and Thulthuli villages under the jurisdiction of Orcha and Barsur police stations. These teams launched extensive combing operations in the area.

The encounter occurred near the forests of Nendur-Thulthuli, and security forces are exercising caution while pursuing the remaining Maoists who have retreated into the dense forest.

This operation marks one of the most significant victories against the Maoist insurgency in recent times.
