Over 808 Kg Ganja Seized from Fruit Truck on Way to Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: The personnel of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized more than 808 kg of ganja worth over Rs 1.62 crore from a fruit-loaded travelling to Bhubaneswar at Krishnavaram near Odisha-Andhra Pradesh border.

Three persons involved in this smuggling of contraband including the truck driver were arrested by the DRI.

The DRI were on vigil at the Andhra-Odisha border following an intelligence report that a huge quantity of cannabis was being smuggled to Bhubaneswar from Andhra Pradesh in a truck loaded with fruits.

DRI officials intercepted the truck at the Krishnavaram Toll Plaza at Odisha-Andhra border.

The smugglers in a pilot vehicle were travelling ahead of the truck. They tried to dodge the DRI officers by ramming through the toll gate. After an hour-long chase, the DRI officials apprehended the two suspects who were escorting the truck with cannabis.

Both the truck and the car were seized along with the ganja.

During the search of the truck and car, packets of marijuana containing 808.18 kg of cannabis was seized.
