Violent Clash Between Students at VIMSAR; 3 House Surgeons Injured

Burla: Three house surgeons were injured in a violent clash between two groups of students at the Veer Surendra Sai Institute Of Medical Science and Research (VIMSAR) in Burla on Sunday night.

According to reports, this clash occurred between the house surgeons and PG students of VIMSAR during the annual function of the Under-Graduate Students’ Association on Sunday night. Although the reason behind this clash has not been ascertained, as per reports it occurred due to past rivalry.

The VIMSAR authorities and local police tried to pacify the situation by holding discussions with both groups till late in the night. But no amicable solution has been achieved.

The injured house surgeons of the hospital have lodged a police complaint. They have also threatened to take up cease work agitation if the persons behind the attack were not punished.

According to the VIMSAR Director Dr Bhabagrahi Rath, two groups of students clashed during a function on the campus over some issue. The situation aggravated when one group attacked the other injuring three students. Everything is under control now, he added.
