Odisha Govt Regularises Services of 9,200 Junior Teachers

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has regularised the services of 9,200 junior teachers working in primary and upper primary schools under the Samagra Shiksha scheme, according to an official statement. The decision was conveyed by the School and Mass Education Department to the Director of Elementary Education on Saturday.

As per the state’s career advancement policy for teachers, junior teachers, known as Sikshya Sahayaks or junior teachers (contractual), have been regularised to Level-V (A) positions in the elementary teachers’ cadre. This applies after they complete six years of continuous and satisfactory service.

However, untrained teachers and those who haven’t cleared the Odisha Teachers’ Eligibility Test (OTET) will not be considered for regularisation, the department clarified.

On the same day, the government issued appointment letters to 16,009 newly recruited junior teachers for primary and upper primary schools under various schemes. Chief Minister Mohan Majhi distributed some of these letters during a ceremony at Kalinga Stadium, which was attended by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
